Casey’s New Summer Menu Features Homegrown Ontario™ Lamb and Ontario Corn Fed Beef™
…Casey’s is the only casual dining chain to offer Homegrown Ontario products…
Mississauga, ON – June 15, 2009 – Casey’s Grill · Bar is featuring locally produced Homegrown Ontario™ Lamb and Ontario Corn Fed Beef™ on its newly launched summer menu which runs until August 2nd at all locations across Ontario. The continuing partnership between Casey’s and Homegrown Ontario – as well as its new partnership with the Beef Information Centre – demonstrates Casey’s commitment to its “Food First” mission – to bring fresh seasonal ingredients and local food to the table for guests to enjoy all year.
“Staying strong in today’s business climate means supporting fellow Ontario business partners like our friends at Homegrown Ontario and the Beef Information Centre as well as our local farmers and producers,” says Grant Cobb, Senior Vice President of Casey’s Grill · Bar. “These grassroots partnerships ultimately benefit Ontario consumers, who more and more are demanding locally produced food when they dine out. It gives us great pride at Casey’s to offer our guests the fresh taste of homegrown goodness as well as our classic menu items.”
With its summer menu lamb sourced from farms across Ontario, Casey’s continues to be the only casual dining chain to offer Homegrown Ontario products. Casey’s new grilled Lamb Kebob features a skewer of Homegrown Ontario lamb with zucchini, onions, cremini mushrooms and red peppers, brushed with mild Rogan Josh curry and topped with cucumber salsa, served with Casey’s summer poppy seed slaw and scallion potato salad. All Homegrown Ontario menu items are easily identified by a logo, a red barn with a trillium in the centre.
In addition to locally sourced lamb, Casey’s has also partnered with the Beef Information Centre for the first time to feature Ontario Corn Fed Beef™ on the limited time summer menu. Ontario Corn Fed Beef™ offers some of the finest beef available in Ontario, as it is raised with pride on 417 family owned and operated farms throughout the province. Steak lovers will be excited to see a 16 oz T-Bone Steak on the new menu that is Ontario raised and corn fed for 100 days for tenderness and flavour. The T-Bone Steak is sprinkled with Casey’s Grillhouse spices, grilled to order, and served with a buttered cob of corn and potato cakes topped with sour cream, green onions and tomatoes. Ontario Corn Fed Beef™ is a Branded Beef Program that is certified by the Canadian Beef Grading Agency. This item will be marked with the Canadian Beef logo, which is an informative guide to guests looking to buy and eat local, while supporting Canadian farmers.
“As a Chef, I enjoy taking advantage of seasonal foods and exploring what I can create with them to excite the palate. Being able to source local ingredients is inspiring to me and I feel it is offering guests satisfaction on more than just a taste level. I believe it is essential to connect with where you live and where you eat,” says Casey’s Grill · Bar’s Executive Chef, Niels Kjeldsen who creates all of Casey’s menus.
Other new summer menu items created by Chef Niels include Pulled Pork Sliders, Barramudi Sea Bass, Roasted Vegetable Salad and Jerk Chicken Sandwich. Prices for Casey’s summer menu items start at $9.99.
