Turkey Farmers of Ontario join Homegrown Ontario™

GUELPH (ON), JANUARY 18, 2008 – Homegrown Ontario™ is pleased to welcome Turkey Farmers of Ontario to the program. Homegrown Ontario is a brand that launched in June 2007 to help consumers clearly identify meat products from Ontario.

“Having the Turkey Farmers of Ontario on board strengthens the Homegrown Ontario message and positioning and offers consumers even more opportunity to choose locally-produced meat products for their families,” says Jennifer Haley, chair of Homegrown Ontario and executive director of the Ontario Veal Association.

Homegrown Ontario pork, veal and lamb, which is identified by the eye-catching logo of a red barn with a trillium in the centre, is currently available in more than 50 retailers across Ontario

“We are excited to be part of this collaborative initiative,” says Heather Nahatchewitz, marketing and communications, Turkey Farmers of Ontario. “By sharing resources we maximize our efforts towards building awareness and demand for Ontario meat products.”

Processors and retailers of Ontario Turkey will also benefit from the extensive marketing communications program that Homegrown Ontario has undertaken which includes free point-of-sale materials that clearly promote and identify Ontario produced meat, ongoing advertising in magazines such as Food & Drink and Canadian Living, and a comprehensive public and media relations program.
